A Champion On and Off the Court

At the Whitehouse Tennis Academy, our mission is led by a man who has not only conquered the world of professional tennis but also dedicated his life to shaping the next generation of athletes and individuals. A Storied Career in Tennis

Wesley Whitehouse’s journey in tennis is one of grit, determination, and triumph. Born on March 13, 1979, in South Africa, Wesley moved to New Zealand, where he now resides in Auckland, and his love for the sport has taken him around the globe. His accolades speak to his talent and hard work: in 1997, Wesley claimed the prestigious Wimbledon Junior Men’s Championship, defeating Daniel Elsner of Germany in a thrilling 6–3, 7–6(6) match. That same year, he reached the finals of both the Australian Open Juniors and the US Open Juniors, cementing his status as one of the top junior players in the world.

Wesley turned professional in 1998 and competed on the ATP Tour for nearly a decade, reaching a career-high singles ranking of World No. 214 in 2004. One of his standout moments came in 2006 when he defeated Marat Safin, a former World No. 1 and Grand Slam champion, at the ATP 1,000 Indianapolis Tennis Championships—a testament to his competitive spirit and skill. Over his career, Wesley competed in numerous tournaments, amassing a record of 153 wins out of 253 matches, with a win percentage of 60.47%. His journey as a player has given him a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of the sport.

A Passion for Growing Great People

While Wesley’s accolades on the court are impressive, his true passion lies in what happens off the court. After retiring from professional play in 2007, Wesley turned his focus to coaching and mentoring, driven by a belief that tennis is more than a game—it’s a powerful vehicle for personal growth. At the Whitehouse Tennis Academy, Wesley is committed to developing not just professional or scholarship-worthy tennis players, but individuals of integrity, resilience, and character.

Wesley understands that true greatness isn’t measured solely by trophies or rankings. It’s about the person you become through the journey—the discipline you cultivate, the challenges you overcome, and the values you uphold. That’s why every program at the academy is designed with a holistic approach, emphasizing life skills like honesty, humility, perseverance, and teamwork alongside technical training. Whether a player dreams of competing on the pro circuit, earning a USA college scholarship, or simply growing through the sport, Wesley is dedicated to guiding them every step of the way.

A Vision for the Future

As the director of the Whitehouse Tennis Academy, Wesley brings firsthand experience of what it takes to succeed at the elite level, but his vision goes far beyond wins and losses. He believes in the transformative power of tennis to shape lives, and he’s passionate about creating an environment where players can thrive both as athletes and as people. “I’ve been fortunate to experience the highs of tennis, from winning at Wimbledon to competing against the best in the world,” Wesley says. “But what I’m most proud of now is seeing our players grow into confident, resilient individuals who carry the lessons they learn here into every aspect of their lives.”

Under Wesley’s leadership, the academy fosters a culture of excellence, joy, and personal development. He ensures that every player receives personalized attention, with programs tailored to their skill level and goals—whether they’re just starting out or aiming for a college scholarship. Wesley’s hands-on approach, combined with his deep knowledge of the game, makes the Whitehouse Tennis Academy a place where dreams are nurtured, and potential is unlocked.

What sets us apart is Wesley’s unwavering commitment to building great people. While many academies focus solely on results, we take a different approach. We celebrate the joy of the game, the pursuit of excellence, and the growth that happens through every challenge. Our players leave with more than just improved tennis skills—they leave with confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of what it means to lead a life of integrity and purpose.
